How to use Beckett Calculator?
It is pretty easy, you just have to type the subgrades of your card in the text boxes and let the BGS Calculator find out what final grade the card will get by clicking on the button.
Beckett Grading System is based on a 1 to 10 scale that includes half grades such as 9.5 or 7.5. Each card is thoroughly inspected by their specialists, analyzing four different aspects which are given an individual grade (sub grade), and which will be assessed for the final grade.
Beckett Grading Services does not obtain the final grade simply from the average of those four sub grades. Through an algorithm, they take into account the subgrade with the lowest grade and gives it a higher weight during the formula. For this reason, it is really difficult to guess what grade your card will get when you send it to BGS Grading.
The algorithm used by Beckett Grading System has never been disclosed to the public, but thanks to tests and information gathered by different people over time, it has been possible to come up with a set of rules to make the BGS Calculator as similar as possible.
To make sure that it works according to the guidelines set by Beckett Grading, the calculator has been tested with over 700 different cards graded by BGS Grading.
In all cases the final grades matched the original ones, so it is safe to say that the calculator works according to Beckett Grading System.

BGS Grading Scale is one of the industry standards for evaluating the condition of collectibles such as cards. This directly affects their market price, which is why understanding it is important if you are in the hobby.
Beckett uses subgrades during the grading process as a tool to break down cards according to their different characteristics. Centering, edges, corners and surface are the four subgrades that the BGS Grading Scale checks. They are also used by BGS Grading Calculator.
